About

The Honors Choirs Chorale, conducted by Aaron Schumacher, is an 80+ member ensemble of singers in grades 7-9, selected by audition. Chorale rehearses weekly, and performs in several season concerts and on tour to area schools. In addition, the choir takes a post-season tour every third year with the most recent tour to San Diego, CA in June 2024.

The choir is accompanied by Jon Davis, and one of five ensembles of Honors Choirs of Southeast Minnesota (Rochester, MN).

Details

Membership: By Audition, singers in grades 7-9 residing in Southeast Minnesota
Tuition: $576 annually; scholarships available
Rehearsals:  6-8:00pm on most Sunday evenings during the school year; sectionals 5:10-5:50pm on a rotating basis
Performances: Concert performances in October, December, February and April plus a one-day local school tour in the spring
Tours:  National tour every third year.

Achievements

  • In June of 2001, the Chorale recorded its first compact disc, Everlasting Melodies. 

  • In July of 2002, the choir traveled to Powell River, British Columbia, to participate in the International Choral Kathaumixw.

  • In July 2015, the choir traveled to Philadelphia to work with Rollo Dilworth, performing in various locations along the way.

  • In June 2018, the choir participated in a festival in Montreal, performing in several area locations and working with conductor/composer, Henry Leck.

  • In May 2023, the choir participated in the Music in the Parks choral competition in Chicago.

  • In June-July 2024, the choir participated in the San Diego Youth Choral Festival.
